WHAT IS A BERNEDOODLE

Bernedoodle comes from The Bernese Mountain Dog who is known as the gentle giant.  The breed is well known for being gentle, intelligent, loyal, great with kids, excellent temperament and gets along well with other pets.  The only downside we find with purebred Bernese Mountain Dogs is the shedding and slobbering, which can cause problems for people with allergies. That's why we breed the Bernedoodles- the Poodle mix eliminates most of the shedding and slobbering found in Bernese Mountain Dogs. Poodles are also smart and protective, but not aggressive. The combination of the two breeds makes for the perfect family pet.  The Bernedoodle is a fun, athletic, and social breed.  They are very similar to the Goldendoodle but more loyal and laid back.

BERNEDOODLE SIZE

The Bernedoodle sizing varies, depending on the parents genetics. The standards range from 65 lbs and up, the minis from 50 lbs and under, and our micros at 25 lbs. and under.

BERNEDOODLE HAIR
Most Bernedoodles have long wavy coats that shed minimally.  Curly coats are also very common and these shed very little, like the poodles coat, and they are great for allergy sufferers.  Straight coat Bernedoodles are less common and they tend to shed more than wavy-or curly coated Bernedoodles. These dogs also come in several beautiful color patterns.

WHAT IS A GOLDENDOODLE

The Goldendoodle is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They are intelligent, friendly, and affectionate dogs. They come in three sizes: Miniature (weighing up to 30 pounds), Medium (30-50 pounds), and Standard (50 to more than 100 pounds). They are a low to non-shedding breed.

Goldendoodle puppies are the quintessential 'Teddy Bear' dog.  Goldendoodles are not a 'registered' breed according to AKC, but a hybrid dog breed.  Some refer to them as a designer dog, as they are breed for specific traits. Here are a few normal characteristics of Goldendoodles

F1 - First Generation

A F1 or first generation Goldendoodle is a full blood Golden Retriever mixed with a full blood Poodle. This represents a 50/50 split puppy with generally equal traits from both parents. F1 Goldendoodles can sometimes shed, but it is generally a small amount if at all. This generation has a tendency to exhibit very wavy to curly hair.

F1b - First Gen Bred Back

A F1b or first generation back breed is a F1 Goldendoodle mixed with a full blood poodle.  This represents a 25/75 split puppy with more poodle characteristics.  It is generally accepted that F1b Goldendoodles have almost no shedding. This generation has a tendency to exhibit curly to very kinky hair.

Additional Breed Highlights

The Goldendoodle is considered to be a non- to light shedder.

They do require regular grooming and clipping.

The Goldendoodle is not generally a watch dog, and they generally are not known to be noisy.

Although they have an average energy level, the Goldendoodle is not recommended for apartments. They do much better in a home with a fenced yard.

The Goldendoodle requires about 20 to 30 minutes of daily exercise.

Being a wonderful family companion, the Goldendoodle generally gets along well with children and does well with other dogs and family pets.

The Goldendoodle is a very social dog who should not live away from his family. He's not suited to living in a kennel or outside; he wants to be in the house with his humans.

The Goldendoodle may make an excellent companion to people with allergies.
